College Park and Washington DC
College Park is a suburb of Washington DC, just a few miles north of the National Mall and within the DC beltway. The area has many internationally recognized museums, monuments, libraries, theatres, and performing arts organizations, and the campus lies in close proximity to a number of major research institutions in the humanities and sciences.
The Washington region is one of the most verdant metropolitan centers in the U.S., with large areas devoted to wildlife refuges and scenic parks. Surrounding the Washington region are nearby state and national parks, as well as the waterways of Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, from the Shenandoah and Appalachian Mountains to the Cheseapeake Bay and Assateague seashores.
